Brookberry Farm Meet Information

Meet # 1: Peace Haven @ Brookberry Farm - Tuesday, June 6th

Pool Address: 760 Brookberry Farm Circle WS 27104

Hello Dolphin Families! Our first week is here and we are ready! Please read the entire email and stay excited!!! We want to get our team ready, both physically and mentally. So, let's remember . . . .

Dolphins are very intelligent animals. They are really fast swimmers and travel together with their families, in a Pod. When people see dolphins, they pause and watch. This is just like the Peace Haven Dolphins!! We travel like a sea of blue, together, an intelligent pod ready to swim fast!

Our Dolphin Family will travel to Brookberry and enter an orange zone. Tuesday, the Brookberry Fins will welcome us to their territory. Below you will find more information about their territory and lots of reminders for our BLUE DOLPHIN FAMILIES to prepare for the big evening.

4:30 PM Dolphin Pod (Clerk of Course) volunteers arrive, check in and set up

4:40 PM Swimmers arrive - 10 & U check in at the Dolphin Pod

5:05 PM Dolphins Warm Up

5:15 PM Timer and Stroke & Turn Meeting

5:30 PM Meet start

HEAT SHEET - The Heat Sheet will be shared as soon as soon as it is available. Team entries are completed and merged to create the meet after 11:30 AM on Meet day. The Heat Sheet will be sent by email, available on the Meet & Events page, and on the SwimTopia App. An alert notification will be sent once available.

VOLUNTEERS - Thank you! We only need a few more timers because it is an 8 lane pool. The Job Sign Up will remain open until midnight tonight. Please sign up to help. When you arrive, check-in with Courtney Beaudry at our volunteer table under the gazebo to the right of the entrance.

PARKING - Street parking on the pool side of the road is available. Please observe the no parking signs. They have lots of parking, so should be a little bit easier than some.

ARRIVAL - Dolphin Pod (Clerk of Course) volunteers should plan to arrive by 4:30 PM to set up our Dolphin Pod and greet our 10 & U swimmers. All others should plan to arrive by 4:40 PM to get set up, mark events, etc... If you need help, please seek a veteran parent or Dolphin Pod volunteer. We recommend you Mark Your Simmer prior to arrival to save time. Please mark EHL (event, heat, lane) grid clearly using a Sharpie on your swimmer's arm or leg AND write first initial last name and their age group on the back of their right shoulder.

DECK - The deck will be open at 4:30 for your families to start arriving - do not come on deck before this time. The Dolphins will set up on the deep end side of the pool (to the right as you enter and near the diving boards). However, feel free to grab a table and umbrella anywhere if one is open. You are encouraged to bring chairs or tents to use on the pool deck.

The zero entry shallow end and the deep end of the pool will be CLOSED for the duration of the meet. It is tempting to walk through that area or dip toes in the water but please help us to keep everyone safe and those areas closed.

CONCESSIONS - Pizza, Chick Fil A, Snack foods, and drinks will be available and CASH or VENMO are the only accepted forms of payment. Sunset Slush will be on site and will take cash or card.

10 & UNDER SWIMMERS - The Dolphin Pod will be located under the pavilion at the back right corner of the pool (beyond diving boards). It will be VERY important to instruct your 10&U swimmers to remain in the Dolphin Pod with their assigned parent volunteer so they can easily be found when their next events come around. They’ll be assisted to Clerk of Course benches and lined up there for events. Your children are welcome to come see you after a race but they need to return to DP as soon as possible and not later than 5 events before their next race.

11 & OVER SWIMMERS - These swimmers have the freedom to roam during the meet, but it is a BIG responsibility keeping track of meet progression and lining themselves up for their own events. 11&Over swimmers need to take this responsibility seriously, we DO NOT want to be chasing them down before their events and no one likes to see an empty spot in a lane that should be filled!

ORDER OF EVENTS - This season the 6U backstroke events have officially been moved to the early half of the meet and will be swum following the completion of the 15-18 50 yd Freestyle event (#24) and prior to the start of 7-8 25 yd Butterfly event. This change was adopted by the league for good reason: 1) it allows 6U swimmers to finish their meet sooner and 2) it reduces crowding on the deck.

* Let’s encourage good sportsmanship! Remind your Dolphin to stay in the water and shake hands with the other team at the end of the race. Let’s cheer for EVERYONE and never put others down - including our competitors.

* MEET DAY ISSUES - PLEASE SEND BY EMAIL TO [email protected]

SEE YOU AT THE POOL!
