Volunteer Roles
It takes EVERYONE to make a swim meet run smoothly and efficiently. Each family needs to sign up for a minimum of three spots during the season. All volunteers must be 18 years old.
Airhead Awarder- Responsible for passing out Dolphin Dollars to heat winners (from both teams) and passing out prizes.
Backup Timer - Start your stopwatch when each heat starts and be ready to hand it off to a Timer if need (stopwatch malfunction, forgot to start timer, etc).
Clerk of Course (aka Dolphin Pod) - Monitor the 10 & under swimmers in a central location and help age group coordinators locate swimmers prior to their events. Assist in lining up swimmers in heat and lane order.
Grillmaster (Home meets only) - Cook hamburgers and hot dogs for our concessions!
Hamburger Helper/Concessions (Home meets only) - Assemble the cooked burgers for sale by our snack shack employees. Keep the condiments area stocked and tidy!
Hospitality (Home meets only) - Hand out bottled water to other volunteers during the meet
Parking Lot Attendant (Home meets only) - Help keep our parking lot safe for swimmers being dropped off, guide guests on parking options.
Ribbons - At the end of the meet please pick up the pre-printed stickers (swimmer's name, event, time, etc.) and apply to the back of ribbons for swimmers. Return to head coach when completed. It's ok to take them home and bring them back to practice the next day
Runner (Home meets only) - Collect place judge slips, timers' sheets, and disqualification sheets and bring to the scorer's table
Scorer - Will sit at scorer's table with a member of opposing team and review times, disqualifications, and finishes. They will enter times into the computer on home events.
Starter - (Home meets only) TRAINING REQUIRED - Will start each event of the meet
Stroke & Turn Judge - TRAINING REQUIRED - Judges will monitor all swimmers for disqualifications.
Timer - Time an individual lane with stopwatch and record times. You're paired with a timer from the opposing team so that there are two timers per lane. Backup timer will be responsible for covering any malfunctioning watches, missed starts, etc.
