LEAGUE FINALS INFO & DEADLINE….5 pm TODAY!

Any swimmer who has competed in AT LEAST TWO (2) GFSL dual meets is eligible to compete at Finals. You NEED to declare your swimmer's availability HERE. Deadline 5 pm TODAY!

Entry limits will dictate how many swimmers make our finals roster. Each team is permitted to enter 3 swimmers per individual event and 2 teams for each relay. Entry preference will be given to top times and legal strokes. Each swimmer can swim a maximum of 3 individual events, 1 medley relay and 1 freestyle relay. We are also allowed to have alternates!

Declaring "available" does not guarantee your swimmer will be entered into the meet but declaring "unavailable" guarantees they will not even have the chance to be considered.

Peace Haven Finals Entries will be official and released in the evening on Friday 7/7.

WHAT?

The GFSL Finals is our championship meet and includes all 20 teams in the league. The meet has two sessions: one in the morning (10&U) and one in the afternoon (11&O). Teams will score points based on Championship scoring rules. The top 16 places earn points as follows 20-17-16-15-14-13-12-11-9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. Team Awards will be given to the winner of each session, as well as an overall team champion. GFSL will also award high point winner plaques to one team in each division: Whale (large teams - including PH), Otter (medium teams) and Seahorse (small teams).

WHERE?

The Greensboro Aquatic Center (1921 W. Gate City Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27403). This is a beautiful indoor facility with fabulous spectator seating. The pool is grounded so there will be no weather delays or cancellations. There is no entry fee and parking is $5. The parking is plentiful.

WHEN?

Monday, July 10. Session 1 in the AM for 10U Girls/Boys in one pool (A). Session 2A/2B in the PM for 11&O Girls/Boys simultaneously in 2 separate side by side pools (A & B). See pic for pool set up.

7:45 AM⎯ PH 10&U Team gathers outside and enters together

8:15 AM⎯ Clerk of Course Volunteers Meeting (on deck in Clerk of Course)

8:25-8:45 AM ⎯ PH 10&U Warm ups (Pool A, lanes 5-8)

8:30 AM⎯ Stroke Judges Meeting (end of hallway outside Hospitality)

8:30 AM⎯ Timers Meeting (end of hallway outside Hospitality)

8:45-8:55 AM ⎯ Block Starts/Dives (Pool B) -IM, 50 free and relay legs 1&3 only

9 AM-1 PM⎯ 10&U Session (Pool A)

*6&U will finish earlier (after their backstroke event) 

*All other 10&U are free to leave at the end of teh 10&U session

1:15 PM ⎯ PH 11&O Team arrives (swimmers enter deck through locker room)

1:55-2:15 PM ⎯ Peace Haven 11&O Warm ups (Pool A, lanes 5-8)

2 PM⎯ Stroke Judges Meeting (end of hallway outside Hospitality)

OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS

• Morning session swimmers/parents/volunteers will meet outside the GAC @ 7:45 AM to gather. Volunteers will receive lanyards for deck access. Coaches will walk swimmers on deck through the locker rooms.
• On deck, our team will gather in our assigned area. 2 team parents will be in the team area with our swimmers. Coaches and league reps - Katie and Ashley - will be on deck throughout all sessions.
• ONLY volunteers with an official lanyard are permitted on deck. All other adults must spectate from the upper stands. Communication from swimmers <> parents will be through text to team parents or via Remind to Katie and Ashley.
• Our team’s volunteer jobs include Clerk of Course, Timers and Stroke & Turn. Katie and Ashley will be recruiting volunteers for these positions.
• Order of events will run as per usual during each session.
• Digital Heat Sheets will be sent prior to the meet. QR codes The team will cover this $150 cost.
