Meet on Thursday @ FCC
Meet #3: Peace Haven @ Forsyth Country Club on Thursday, June 12th
This is our first AWAY meet this season! Please carefully read the information in this email so you are prepared for a great evening!
Another great swim meet awaits! On Thursday we will travel to meet the Crazy Ducks in their waters. This is a new adventure for the Dolphins. Let’s talk about ducks. They are cute. They are loving siblings and communicate with each other even before hatching! Now that is crazy! They have good social skills and even better vision than humans. So, we are headed to meet a group of Crazy Ducks.
Dolphins, you know your skills. Friendships are built and excitement is there. We form a pod, work together and move fast through the water. The Peace Haven Dolphins raced well on Tuesday, get some rest and be ready for another fun night!
Get those goggles, suits, and smiles and be ready for Thursday!
ARRIVAL - FCC has asked us to not arrive before 4:30. Even though you may be eager to claim a place to sit, please respect this request.
- 4:30 PM Coaches, Reps and Clerk of Course arrive to set up
- 4:45 PM Dolphins arrive
- 5:05-5:20 PM Dolphins Warm Up
- 5:15 PM Timer and Stroke & Turn
- 5:30 PM Meet start
PARKING - Please park in the parking lots nearest to the pool and tennis courts. Parking lots do fill up, so we encourage one vehicle per family as much as possible.
ARRIVAL - Dolphin Pod (Clerk of Course) volunteers should plan to arrive by 4:30 PM to set up our Dolphin Pod and greet our 10 & U swimmers. All others should plan to arrive by 4:45 PM to get set up, mark events, etc... If you need help, please seek a veteran parent or Dolphin Pod volunteer. We recommend you Mark Your Simmer prior to arrival to save time.
SEATING - Visitors set up on the short side of the pool near/under the Pavilion. There are chairs (although you are welcome to bring your own folding chairs and tents to place nearer to the pool), a covered pavilion with tables and chairs, and space around the pool deck for your set-up.
The playground, baby pool, shallow end, and shallow end ramp are all OFF LIMITS during the swim meet.
VOLUNTEERS - We are still in need of Dolphin Pod volunteers! Even though we are at another pool, please check-in at our volunteer table when you arrive.
HEAT SHEET - The Heat Sheet and Meet Entries will be sent out by email as soon as they are available on Thursday (hopefully by 1:00 PM).
10 & UNDER SWIMMERS - Once we arrive and set up the Dolphin Pod we will let you know where to send your children. At AWAY meets it is even more important to make sure that 10&U swimmers remain in the Dolphin Pod with their assigned parent volunteer so they can easily be found when their next events come around.
11 & OVER SWIMMERS - Please remind your 11&O swimmers that they are responsible for keeping track of the meet and getting themselves to their event, heat and lane ON TIME.
WEATHER - In the unfortunate event of bad weather, FCC has a lightning strike system on the golf course. This system alerts them with a loud siren of lightning within 15 miles. IF that siren goes off during the meet, EVERYONE must evacuate the pool AND pool deck. All swimmers and families must wait in their vehicles (or a safe spot as directed away from the pool facility) until we get an all-clear. Everyone should leave their items on the pool deck; you will be allowed to retrieve their items once the meet resumes or is canceled.
FOOD - The Pavilion Café offers a variety of food and drinks. There is also a bar for adults 21 and up. Our volunteers are reminded not to drink alcohol until their shift is complete. The menu is attached. The Pavilion cafe accepts debit/credit cards only, no cash please.
