The Week Ahead
GREAT first week of practice, Dolphins!!!
MODIFIED SCHEDULE NEXT WEEK
There will be no practice on Memorial Day. Even though public school is in session Tues and Wed we will offer a modified morning practice to help alleviate crowding in the afternoon. Afternoon practice will follow the schedule we have used this week. We will switch to our normal schedule for Thurs and Friday. Please carefully review the PRACTICE SCHEDULE
Swim team is fun but it is not play time. Please remind your child to listen to their coaches, follow instructions, and wait on the wall for their turn. This will make for a safe and productive practice for everyone. No club or school caps or suits please.
NEW THIS YEAR….
All swimmers must leave the pool deck after morning practice with their belongings and wait to reenter once the pool officially opens at 11:00 AM. This allows our guards to get the pool ready for opening and allows our greeters to properly check in all members.
DECLARE YOUR SWIMMER FOR THE DOLPHIN SQUAD MEET BY 5/27
This meet is for ALL swimmers on the team: a low key first meet as we get back in the groove and a chance for coaches to get times for future lineups. 6&U will swim a 25 Free and Back, 7-10 will swim a 25 of all strokes and 11&O will swim a 50 of all strokes. Donuts for all at the CONCLUSION of the meet! If you would be willing to provide donuts, please sign up HERE.
Declare your swimmer either ATTENDING or NOT ATTENDING by Wednesday 5/27 at 12:00 PM. Log into your Swimtopia account, click the green “Meet Entry” button, then click the green “Edit” button. This is the only way that coaches will know who to enter in the meet. Heat sheets will come out Friday 5/29 in the afternoon. You may leave a note for coaches if there is a stroke that your child is unwilling to swim at this meet but we encourage all 7+ swimmers to attempt every stroke.
TEAM PICTURE AFTER THE DOLPHIN SQUAD MEET
Wear your team suit! There is still time to order team suits through our Swim Outlet Store. Either the patterned suit (Sporti Catalyst), the royal blue with Dolphin (PHD Speedo) or ANY royal blue suit will do.
DONUTS AFTER DOLPIN-SQUAD MEET
We are planning to celebrate with donuts after the Dolphin Squad meet for our swimmers. Please consider signing up to bring a dozen donuts. Sign Up Here
TEEN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We are hoping to have a few 13U swimmers help with Dolphin Pod at each meet. If you have a responsible swimmer who is interested in volunteering, please encourage them to complete this form.
STROKE & TURN OFFICIALS NEEDED
Officials ensure fair competition by observing that swimmers follow technical rules for strokes, starts and turns. Every meet requires 4 officials who are certified by our league. New officials must attend a clinic and also take the test.
The GFSL is offering a Stroke & Turn clinic on June 3rd at 7:00 at Forsyth Country Club. You must sign up HERE.
We have a number of veteran officials but we are looking to add more to our ranks. Once certified, you can shadow a seasoned official to gain confidence in recognizing stroke infractions, filling out DQ slips, and working with the referee.
SWIM TEAM AMAZON WISHLIST
The swim team has created an Amazon wish list of items that would help make this a fun and successful swim season! These items will be used during meets, pep rallies, and practices. If you are interested in donating, please take a look at the list HERE.
DOWNLOAD THE SWIMTOPIA APP at Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
If you are logged in AND have enabled notifications you will receive ALERTS to your phone. Otherwise they will go to your email. We will no longer use REMIND.
Have a great holiday weekend!
